Outside IN was the pilot phase for DASH’s wider visual arts programme ’in’. In 2012 to 2015 the DASH will be partnering with five galleries and commissioning five Disability Arts practitioners.

New Residency Dates for Sean Burn at New Art Gallery Walsall

Artist Sean Burn completes the year-long Outside IN residency with the New Art Gallery Walsall that ’reclaimed the language of lunacy’. He is in residence from the 18 to the 28 January and the 15 to the 26 February. There is a public exhibition and an open studio event in February. Read on for more details.

Outside IN brings new audiences to The New Art Gallery Walsall

Thursday September 16th 2010 saw the launch of DASH’s vibrant new visual arts project, Outside IN at The New Art Gallery Walsall. The Outside IN project aims to increase the number of Disabled and Deaf artists working with mainstream galleries, regionally and across the UK.

bastilles englan (live / disability art) is part reclamation, part provocation, and wholly an exploration of escaping asylums and subsequent journeyings towards fragile freedoms. Its starting point is poet john clares asylum break out in 1841 and 5 day walk home to freedom. bastilles englan was premièred at platform 0000008 supported by amino and has now toured internationally. more dates are due this year. it will be filmed in 2011

Outside IN is DASH’s three year visual arts programme commissioning the work of Disabled Artists to be shown in mainstream art galleries in the West Midlands and Welsh Borders.
