Consultation: Barriers to Careers in Museums

Have you always wanted to work as a Curator or in the Exhibitions team but found barriers along the way? Do you define yourself as D/deaf, disabled or neurodiverse?

Accentuate want to hear about your experiences.

The Accentuate programme is planning a brand new work placement programme called Curating for Change, to enable D/deaf, disabled and neurodiverse people to fulfil their potential in Museums by developing their curatorial skills. We are working with over 20 Museums across England and in 2021/2022 will be offering a series of paid Fellowships for 18 months.

The Accentuate programme is planning a brand new work placement programme called Curating for Change, to enable and develop the skills of D/deaf, disabled and neurodiverse people to fulfil their potential in Museums.

They are working with over 20 Museums across England, and in 2021/2022 will be offering a series of paid fellowships and traineeships. Right now they are planning what these placements might look like and want to hear from people with lived experience of disability and about any challenges or barriers you have experienced in wanting to progress a career in Museums.

They are inviting you to get involved, whether you currently work in a museum or are interested in doing so.

There are two ways to do this: by joining one of the workshops or by completing a survey.
