Disabled Poets Prize 2024

The Prize is free to enter, open to disabled adults aged 18+ in the UK.

There are three categories:

  • best single poem
  • best unpublished pamphlet
  • best poem performed in BSL


Cash (£50 - £500) and development prizes are available in each category.

The Disabled Poets’ Prize is looking for the best single poem, best unpublished pamphlet, and best poem performed in BSL by UK-based deaf and disabled poets aged 18+. It’s free to enter.

The Prize is run by Jamie Hale, with CRIPtic Arts, Spread the Word, and Verve Poetry Press, and offers development opportunities and financial prizes in all three categories.


The 2024 judges are Stephen Lightbown, Pascale Petit, Jamie Hale and Kabir Kapoor. Deadline for entries is Tuesday 31 October, 1pm. The 2024 Prize is supported by the Authors’ Licensing and Collecting Society (ALCS).
