Visability Film Festival Host Free Online Workshop: ‘Enhancing Accessibility Through Creativity
On Sunday 28 March at 2pm, Visability Film Festival will hold its final event of the season when it hosts the free online workshop: ‘Enhancing Accessibility Through Creativity’, ran by Rationale Arts.
Inclusivity and accessibility are vital aspects of our evolving cultural spaces, and at Visability Film Festival it’s no different. This year they donated £800 to the disabled led visual arts charity, Dash Arts, to help with their support of disability arts practise, and introduced an award for films exhibiting an ‘Outstanding Achievement in Accessibility’.
The workshop will demystify accessibility, covering: Techniques & approaches to subtitling and Audio Description, enhancing accessibility through creative editing, how to make creative projects accessible to disabled cast members and filmmakers, extending the creative life of short film projects, and much more.
Commenting, Visability Film Festival Co-Director Sam Briggs said: “We were thrilled to have Rationale Arts as our festival sponsor for 2021. This workshop represents a real coup for the festival and a fantastic professional tool for creatives”.

Ran by Rationale Arts artistic director, Nathan Geering - Artistic Director of the 2017 Special Olympics, deviser of the Rationale Method of Audio Description, and acclaimed International touring dancer with the Sonia Sabri company.
Festival sponsor, Rationale Arts were Founded in 2019 after identifying a need for art to be made equally accessible to both disabled and non-disabled members of the community.
