Cultivating spaces for extraordinary artists

Rare chance to become curator at mac Birmingham

Artists and curators are invited to submit proposals for a residency which is available at mac birmingham, in association with DASH.

The chosen curator will benefit from a fee of £7000, working space at mac and an exhibition slot in March 2015. They will also be able to have an input towards the visual arts programme at the centre too.

The position is open to those working in Disability Arts and forms part of the visual arts programme 'IN', Disability Arts in the Mainstream. The aim of 'IN' is to increase the number of Disabled and Deaf artists exhibiting in galleries.

Paula Dower, Operations Director of DASH said:

"This is a great opportunity for a creative individual to develop their professional skills and experience. Applicants are invited to outline their initial ideas around an exhibition which explores Disability Arts and awkwardness."

The closing date for applications is 5pm on Monday 6th January 2014.

For more information contact Craig Ashley on 0121 446 3224 or Mike Layward on 01743 272939.

Applications can be emailed to visualarts@macarts.co.uk or posted to Visual Arts at mac birmingham.
