Sophie Hoyle – FCP Artist Evaluator
DASH are delighted to announce that artist and writer Sophie Hoyle has been selected as the Artist Evaluator for the Future Curators Programme (FCP).
Sophie’s practice explores an intersectional approach to post-colonial, queer, feminist, critical psychiatry and disability issues. Their work looks at the relation of the personal to (and as) political, individual and collective anxieties, and how alliances can be formed where different kinds of inequality and marginalisation intersect.
They will work alongside our external evaluator Morag Carmichael to creatively map the impact and respond to the experiences of those involved in organising, participating in, and engaging with the Future Curators Programme culminating in the production of a new digital commission.
The Future Curators Programme (FCP) is a residency programme hosting Disabled, Deaf or neurodivergent curators within mainstream visual arts institutions. Our seven partner organisations are:
- Arts Catalyst
- Disability Arts Online
- John Hansard Gallery
- MAC Birmingham
- MIMA, Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art
- Newlyn Art Gallery & The Exchange
- Wysing Arts Centre
“DASH and our FCP partners are delighted to welcome Sophie to the network. They will bring an intersectional and thoughtful practice to the programme and we look forward to being part of, and reflecting on this important moment of systems change work with them.” The DASH team.
