Grand Union are thrilled to launch Strategies of Play at CCA Goldsmiths.
Strategies of Play is a new publication by Bella Milroy and Khairani Barokka, bringing together conversations, writings and responses to the artists expansive practice. Published with Roo Dhissou of Jalebi Press, Strategies of Play responds to and extends the intricacies of Bella and Okka's collaborative exhibition Languages of Intimacy which took place in Autumn 2025 with Grand Union at Birmingham School of Art.
This event will bring together the artists a year after Languages of Intimacy opened, reflecting on the expansive nature of crip time in relation to art making, organisational practice and strategies of intimacy when moving between private and public contexts. Speaking to the process of presenting work across Birmingham and in online formats, Bella and Okka will be in conversation with Roo to talk about the process of sharing this journey of intimacy frameworks.
The conversation is chaired by Rachel Fleming-Mulford, Associate Director (Curatorial/International) at DASH.
Copies of Strategies of Play will be available to buy at CCA Goldsmiths in person and online via the Grand Union website.
Access information:
This is a hybrid event, available to attend in-person and online. There will be live CART captions and BSL interpretation available in both spaces. For more information about access to the CCA Goldsmiths site please visit this link here.
We ask that attendees in person not wear strong scents and wearing masks is strongly encouraged. Contributors will not be wearing masks when speaking to allow for lip-reading.
With thanks to DASH and CCA Goldsmiths for their support for this event.
