Creative Access Toolkit
We're pleased to share the Tate Plus Network's Creative Access Toolkit.
The Toolkit was commissioned by and for Plus Tate to compile advice for working with and supporting deaf, disabled and/or neurodivergent artists and audiences.
It can be downloaded online on the Plus Tate webpage or you can email info@dasharts.org to request a copy.
The document was co-authored by Jennifer Gilbert with guidance from TripleC and DANC (Disabled Artists Networking Community) and support from artists Sonia Boue, Christopher Sacre, Thompson Hall and Christopher Samuel.
It began in 2023 following a series of online workshops for Directors, Curators and Learning colleagues held with the intention of acknowledging the blocks between arts organisations and disabled artists and creating solutions through accessible ways of working. Following these workshops, the first iteration of the Toolkit was produced as a point of advice and guidance. This was shared with the network and across Tate with a request to read, digest and implement the guidance.
Since then, formal feedback sessions have been held, giving space for colleagues to share if and how they undertook more accessible ways of working, and if they felt there were any gaps in the Toolkit itself. This feedback was built into a revised, updated version, which is now being shared sector-wide.
DASH have been a member of the Tate Plus network since 2020 and were instrumental in the early development of the toolkit..
